Brazilian Beauty Camila Soares: Portrait Photography

Back in 2002, Camila came to live with my little family for the school year as a foreign exchange student from Brazil. Her sister, Melina, had just left our family only a few months prior. Both of them mean a lot to us. And here Camila is back visiting Utah for a short time, and we took advantage of her visit to take a few pictures of her out at Antelope Island. We had a great time spending time together and having some fun with the camera. These are some of my favorite pictures:

Samba Queen Competition 2012: Samba Fogo!

I had the opportunity to photograph Samba Fogo in the 2012 Samba Queen Competition. Samba Fogo Music and Dance Company is a professional 17-member company who perform in many events from outdoor festivals to professional competitions. Samba Fogo performs in many different aspects of entertainment and dance including Afro-Brazilian and contemporary dance, live music, capoeira, and fire dance. The competition for this year's Samba Queen will be held on February 2nd. More details can be found here.

Utah Engagement Pictures - Meet Lorrayne and Davi

Lorrayne and Davi are just about the most perfect couple ever. They are so in love and it shows in every single picture. I had the hardest time picking which pictures to show them, and have no idea how I'm going to pick favorites to show here on my blog.

Both Lorrayne and Davi are from Brazil. They will actually be getting married in Brazil and it makes me sad that I will not be there to photograph their wedding. But Lorrayne told me it had long been her dream to have me photograph her and her boyfriend and so when the opportunity came up, they drove all the way from California just to get engagement pictures done. I feel so honored to have been able to do this for them. What a wonderful couple!

 First a bit of explanation. Davi served a 2 year LDS Mission. During that time, he and Lorrayne wrote letters to each other. Partway through the sequence of images here, you will see that Lorrayne still carries a box of letters around with her. I love the expressions on their faces as they relive some of those moments while looking through the letters and reading parts of them to each other. Again ... what a wonderfully romantic couple!

Thank you Lorrayne and Davi for driving out to Utah and asking me to do your engagement pictures. What an honor! I wish you the very best as you two return back to Brazil and get married and hope that you'll be back here again some day so that we can follow up with more pictures! :)
