Congratulations Gilbert and Elisa

I met Elisa last summer when I had her do some modeling for me. She, of course, was awesome. And when I found out she was dating Gilbert Gaertner (the son of one of my co-workers), I anxiously hoped that I might get to do her wedding pictures. Later in the fall we did their engagements at Memory Grove to take advantage of the fall colors. And then did her bridals a month ago and just a couple of days ago they were married at the L.D.S. Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Ashley Lane - Braving the Snow

As Ashley and I discussed doing something different... we thought we'd have some fun doing a bikini photo session in the snow. So the plan from the beginning was to head up into the mountains to find some snow. Little did we realize that, on the day of the photo session, a big snow storm would be coming in to plaster the mountains with more snow. As we drove up the mountain, the roads were merely wet. Our photo session lasted only a half hour, but by the time we left the roads were slushy and icy. And Ashley and I both had icicles in our hair!

Ashley was a real trooper. I'm sure that, without all of my layers of clothing, I would not have lasted a half hour out in the snow like she did. She was fantastic and a lot of fun to work with. Check out the photos and see for yourself.

Metal Prints

This blog post is about Metal Prints ... not "metallic", which is a metallic finish on a paper print (sort of a super glossy finish) ... but prints that are made on a sheet of metal.

I've become a big fan of Metal Prints, for a couple of reasons:

• Metal Prints are BOLD! They make a statement because of their high gloss surface.
• Metal Prints are DURABLE! They don't bend or tear and they don't need a glass cover to protect their longevity.
• Metal Prints are ready to hang - no external frame necessary.

The only hard part is showing you what a Metal Print is like over the internet (it's sorta like the problem of: How to sell a television set via a TV commercial when the image doesn't look any better than the TV you are watching the commercial on).  I would love to let you hold one and see for yourself.  But barring a stampede of people coming to visit me to see these prints in person, I thought I'd post a couple of images and describe what you are looking at.

First...  the image has a high gloss / bold look to it:

The black area you see in the image is like a "spacer". It holds the print away from the wall giving the presentation of the image a "3-Dimensional" look.

The Metal Print in these images is 16x24". Larger prints are even more impressive!

One more thing to keep in mind. While Metal Prints cost more for the print, the amount of money you save by not having to buy a frame to put it in generally compensates for the increased cost. For example, this 16x24" Metal Print is $250. A regular 16x24" Lustre Print would cost $90, but you would probably end up paying about $150-$200 for a good frame for it. So in the end, the cost is about the same. Plus, you end up with a much more dramatic and unique print to hang on your wall!

Jessi Losee came to my studio last night. Krista Biesinger was the Make Up Artist. Together, they did a wonderful job!

Melina

Melina lived with us for a year as a foreign exchange student from Brazil 10 years ago. This week she is back for her first visit to Utah in 10 years. We've loved visiting with her and renewing our love for her. And as you can see, the camera loves her too. I'm just sad that she will leave in a week and it could be another 10 years before she returns.

David and Miriam at La Caille

Yes, it's that time of year again. It seems like everyone falls in love and wants to get married in the spring. Last week alone I had three wonderful engagement sessions and a bridal session.

Here we meet up with David and Miriam. A unique engagement session at the La Caille Restaurant in Sandy, Utah. We begin down at the front entrance to the long drive up the hill to the restaurant.
