Congratulations Shawn and Natalie

I've known Natalie for awhile now. She had offered to model for me so I could try out some new locations and over the past year and a half and four photo sessions, I've gotten to know her pretty well. So while I'm always excited to see someone get married, it's a bit more personal when I've come to know the bride so well.

For the curious, here are links to our other photo shoots:

Natalie in downtown Salt Lake (our first shoot together)
Natalie at The Castle Amphitheater
Natalie at the Old Smelter (this is where I met Shawn for the first time)
Natalie in Studio

Anyway, on to some fun engagement, bridals and wedding pictures!

We did their engagement pictures at the Great Salt Lake. She said she wanted "steamy" so we got a little "steamy" with a couple of the poses:

Bridal pictures were done at Thanksgiving Point Gardens (the large gardens in the back):

And finally, on July 3rd, 2010, Shawn and Natalie were wed in Shawn's back yard in Payson:

And finally, the reception was at Natalie's church:

Congratulations again Shawn and Natalie and best wishes to both of you for the future!

Dan and Angie - One Year Anniversary & Trash the Dress (and Suit)

Exactly one year ago today, my daughter Angie and her husband Dan tied the knot.

Just a few weeks before that happy occasion, I had my first ever "Trash the Dress" photo session. Angie has wanted to do that ever since. And yesterday she finally got her wish.

Sadly, these pictures are not of her in her wedding dress because, as she discovered less than a week ago, she no longer "fit" into her wedding dress. She cried. She almost canceled the photo shoot! But she found her old prom dress and decided to go for it. And go for it she did! And, as you'll find out in the pictures, even Dan got into it by wearing an old mission suit which he gladly wore out into the waters of the Great Salt Lake.

Now, if you read my previous "Trash the Dress" post, I really don't feel that this style of photo shoot is about ruining the dress so much as using it in ways that you wouldn't dare use it prior to the wedding.

But still, before we headed out to the Great Salt Lake to get wet ... I wanted to get some "more normal" style pictures of the two of them. So we started out near downtown Salt Lake City with these photos:

For those who have heard the story, it is at this point (pictures above) where I had set down my camera bag (full of nearly all of my most favorite lenses) while grabbing a couple of quick shots before heading out to the Great Salt Lake. It is here that I left my bag - which was only discovered to be "missing" more than a half an hour later while shooting at the lake! We made a bee-line back for this spot to see if anyone had taken the bag. And just minutes before we arrived, I received a call from Highlite Photography saying they had found my bag. There really are good people in the world! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Now off we go to the Great Salt Lake for pictures!

Now here is where the fun begins!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Dan and Angie!
